ABOUT ZACHARY:
Outdoorsman and adventure creator Zachary Fowler is a Vermont native who moved to Maine to become a wooden boat builder. Although building classic wooden boats was a passion and skill, Zach’s real love was always for the outdoors - expressed by years of providing for his family while living a self-sufficient lifestyle in an off-grid yurt.
Fowler’s enthusiasm for the outdoors, perseverance, and strong work ethic were proven when he applied for (and won) History Channel’s “ALONE” reality television series Season 3, surviving 87 days alone in Patagonia, eating only 63 fish and two birds.
After winning Alone, Fowler started his own YouTube channel, “Fowler’s Makery and
Mischief,” to share his appreciation and knowledge of the great outdoors with others, including fishing, hunting, cooking, shooting slingshots, and creative projects that take his audience on survival and wilderness adventures.
Producing video series such as the “30 Day Survival Challenge”, “7 Day Waterworld Survival Challenge,” and “300 Mile E-Bike Survival Challenge,” the channel has grown to reach nearly 1.8 million subscribers and expanded into a production company planning content across multiple channels, helping people gear up for their own adventures through its store online at www.fowlersmakeryandmischief.com.
ABOUT MEGAN
Megan Gray is an arts and culture reporter at the Portland Press Herald. A Midwest native, she moved to Maine in 2016. She has written about presidential politics and local government, jury trials and jails. Her current beat is her favorite yet, and she loves the stories that take her to behind the scenes to an artist studio or theater backstage. Outside of work, she likes to explore Maine’s hiking trails and coastal islands with her husband, and she definitely wants to pet your dog.
